Injury wave hits the Hokies
BLACKSBURG -- Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer and his staff will have their fingers crossed that the Hokies can avoid any more injuries in Saturday's Maroon-White spring game at Lane Stadium.
Tech saw two players go down with injuries in last Saturday's second full scrimmage, losing projected starting right guard Jaymes Brooks to a high left ankle sprain and backup defensive tackle Courtney Prince to a torn right ACL.
Prince, a redshirt freshman, wasn't believed to have been seriously hurt on first examination by team trainer Mike Goforth, but an MRL exam revealed the torn ACL on Wednesday. He is expected to undergo surgery Tuesday.
Prince will miss the spring game along with redshirt sophomore tailback Josh Oglesby, who suffered a sprained ankle in Wednesday's practice. The Hokies' other co-No. 2 tailback, redshirt freshman Ryan Williams, injured a finger in Monday's workout but is listed as probable for Saturday's 2 p.m game.
