Plus, 6-5 gives him the kind of frame that would give him a lot of potential to keep getting better as a college player, and possibly become a pro prospect.

I'm just curious Doug, why do you find it necessary to even mention that Davis's parents were season ticket holders at UVA? I've never see that mentioned in any commitment announcement previously regardless of which school was announced. Sorry, had to ask.

i think it is very hard for the staff to recruit with all of the getting fired talk by other schools. we have a talented group of assistants and good recruiters but that black cloud over the staff head is hard to overcome. None of our recruits are highly rated.

Interesting comment Don, but Not factual. Actually Rivals rates VT commit Mark Shuman as #29 OT nationally and Conner Davis #45.

One of the current in-state rankings list Mark Shuman #4 and Conner Davis #15.

So, in truth Virginia Tech received a commitment from the top OL in the state of Va.

As of today, 7/11 VT recruits are from the state of Va, 2/9 UVA recruits are from the state of VA.

I think you missed one more school that UVA beat out Nelson. I hope this puts those whining about in-state recruiting and ol recruiting at ease a little bit.. thou I guess that wouldn't be the case. For the 2nd straight year UVA has received a commitment (and hopefully signature) of the top OL in state.

Davis sounds like a good prospect! We outrecruited West Virginia and Boston College for him, which is cool!
