Tech gets 16th commitment

E.L. Smiling, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound wide receiver from Brooke Point High School in Stafford, has become the 16th football prospect to commit to Virginia Tech for 2010.

Smiling had 27 receptions as a junior but is being “counted on” as more of a featured player this coming season, Brooke Point coach Jeff Berry said Wednesday.

Berry is the third player to commit to Tech after attending a recent one-day camp, although he was offered by the Hokies during the winter. Berry said it was the only offer Smiling had received.

  1. Matters not that others have not offered! Tech knows how to recruit to their system. Maybe one day before` I die, we` can beat them! HooJack

  3. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date in Dallas on the Hokies. One thing you might consider that the Dallas Morning News does when listing early commitments to Texas, A&M, Baylor, etc. is they include the statement "Early commitments are non-binding" and gives the official signing date next February. Many think these commitments are a "done deal" when they are not.

  4. Agree with you, Jack.

History has shown that the Hokies can trust their judgment in recruiting.
