Moses situation crystalizing
I've heard enough yesterday and today to say confidently that Virginia signee Morgan Moses, a Parade All-American, will play at Fork Union Military Academy.
A usually reliable poster on cavscorner.com said Monday that Moses would be going to Hargrave Military Academy, "but I haven't talked to him," said Hargrave coach Robert Prunty when asked about Moses.
"I'd be extremely happy if he came here but I'd be shocked."
UVa coach Al Groh said at the ACC's Football Kickoff that Moses would be spending the fall at Fork Union, and FUMA coach John Shuman said Tuesday that Moses and his parents had visited Fork Union on Saturday.
"We're a traditional school and we require some paperwork," Shuman said. "We do not have the paperwork back, but he did visit our school."
Football practice at Fork Union begins Aug. 17.

uva snags another " honor student " for the program, and they will hype the recruiting for this year and again next year, just like they have done in the past.

Not sure UVa has done much "hyping" of this kid.

The irony of Tony's inane comment is that in Tech's apparel program, Moses probably would be an "honor student."

Tony,
Some examples of the so called hyping might give a little credibility to your statements.

Tony, your VPI leanings aren't obvious by this moronic quote. He would be an honor student at Tech.

Don't worry Nickie - UVA's Apparel Program has been disguised as their Football program for so many years that Morgan will eventually be able to fit right in.

Tony, your ignorance is the reason that Hokie fans are labeled the way that they are.

Remember Brooks and how the hoos used his recruiting ranking two years in a row, their recruiting class gets ranked high with highly rated recruits that go to prep school and when they actually get in school the next year, their ranking counts again. These highly ranked recruits that the hoos sign after struggling to get in shows that they go after the same players that most of their fans belittle other schools for signing.

Wow Tony what a revelation, that never happens in Blacksburg does it? Maybe you should check to see how many, and its more than one, players commited in 2008 and didn't make it to Tech roster till this year.

If I remember correctly it seems that Tech graduated 19 of 20 Seniors last year! Also have they not had several attend Graduate School their in last year. Which School has had the most Academic casulities the last few years? I bet the The "Whos" know!
Don't think the WHO'S would want to discuss Football Players recent graduation rates!
Comment by Bob — July 30, 2009 @ 11:56 pm
Bobby,
The discussion isn't about graduation rates... It regards the admittance to the university. Get that through your thick, Chokie biased head.
Comment by Bryan — July 31, 2009 @ 10:56 am
Watchdog, I never said Tech did not have it's problems, but as Bob said, I would put Tech's graduation rate up against the hoos any day !!! What I was saying is the hoos like to imply how hard it is to get into their school, but the reality is, if you can play football well, you can get in.

So, do you consider cruising through message boards to be good reporting? Can't you come up with your own stories? Why does anyone need the Roanoke Times? It seems like it would be easier to go directly to those sites themselves.

Homer,
I did phone interviews with both John Shuman and Robert Prunty on the Moses situation. Didn't seem them quoted on any of the message boards.

Tony, you proved the point on how hard it is to get into UVA. If Moses had signed with VT, like the Vick Brothers and other criminal players he would have not had to go to FUMA. For years, UVA has had a tough time recruiting in the Newport News and Richmond areas in both football and basketball, because alot of these guys have poor grades and SATs. Virginia can't even look at them even if the squeak past the NCAA requirements. That has been UVA's hamstring for years. We all know it. The fact that you guys played against weak Division I level teams for years in the big least helped build your recruiting momentum over Virginia. Virginia was competing against Clemson, GT, North Carolina, Maryland, and FSU. For years you were competing against Miami, and 6 or 7 cupcake teams. The same with West Virginia now. It helped them when VT and Miami moved out. They virtually have no competition the level of the ACC. Miami is still recruiting off of the rep from the Jimmy Johnson days.

I respect your comments Wayne! They're very good. But Welsh recruited a lot better in Richmond and Newport News than Groh has, didn't he?
