Tech opens as 3.5-point favorite over Nebraska
Breaking news out of Las Vegas: Virginia Tech has been established as an opening 3.5-point favorite over Nebraska in Saturday's 3:30 p.m. clash at Lane Stadium.
The Hokies (1-1) moved up from 14th to 13th in the new Associated Press Top-25 poll released earlier today. The Huskers (2-0), who feasted on a second straight Sun Belt foe at home Saturday, climbed from 22nd to 19th.
Tech was a 7-point underdog last season against Nebraska in Lincoln, emerging with a 35-30 victory.
My guess is this spread can only go up in Tech's favor. So lay your money down pronto if you like the Hokies.
And Virginia? Vegas has made Southern Mississippi a hefty 14.5-point chalk over Al Groh's struggling club that has opened the season with home losses to I-AA William and Mary and TCU, ranked 15th in the lastest AP poll.
Miami, which comes to Blacksburg a week from Saturday, opened as a 4-point favorite over visiting Georgia Tech in their ACC matchup on Thursday night.

Yes, this is a different Va Tech Team. No Macho Harris, no top 2 RBs, no CB, no TE (maybe).
