Oct. 10 Game times set for Tech, UVa

The ACC announced Monday that the Oct. 10 football game between Virginia Tech and Boston College at Lane Stadium will kick off at noon and be broadcast on Raycom, which will be shown locally on WDBJ-TV.

The ACC also announced that Virginia's home game with Indiana that day will begin at 3:30 p.m. and be seen on ESPN360.com.

  1. Good news from the weekend: UVA did not lose, that's progress. Oh wait, they didn't play. Well, it was progress regardless. BTW, that's a general line I've used for years in my support of my hapless Detroit Lions, who finally snapped their losing streak against the Redskins. They may only win 1 or 2 more games this year, but it was a great feeling to watch them finally break it and get a win. I actually feel good about the team they're assembling too, it may take another few years but my hope is that they will be playoff contenders in another season or 2. Maybe in that time UVA can figure out how to win again too, it's sad to see them in the ESPN bottom 10, and not in the #5 spot.

  2. Other John,
I've always believed that, all else being equal, UVa would get the better recruits over VT because people see it, rightly or wrongly as the better academic institution. All it took was for UVa to become a player again.

As Tech continues to pile up ACC titles and BCS bowls, though, that may be changing. Another decade of strong seasons, and a national championship or two could change that dynamic forever and make VT uncatchable for UVa.

  3. Suzie, good points. However, Frank Beamer is a nationally well-thought-of college coach. 17 year-old high school players see his bio online and think of him as a sort of "legend" in coaching, despite what any VA Tech fans who think he should have won a national championship by now might think! What George Welsh accomplished at UVa looks more and more amazing with each year that passes now.
