Why does the ACC schedule interleague play? If Tech loses to an Atlantic Division team, it doesn't hurt them in the Coastal but it sure does hurt on the National scale. And besides you face the daunting task of having to beat a team twice if you meet in the ACC championship game. Granted Tech has come out on top against BC in those games but it seems as if the ACC is shooting itself in the foot as far as being able to crown a National champion. Do other Conferences play this way?

It is my understanding that the divisional standings are based on your total ACC record and not just wins and losses against teams in your division. If you only played teams in your division you would only have 5 ACC games. The ACC is not unique in its structure.

If I remember correctly, you play each team in your division every year for a total of 5 games. Each team has been designated a rival in the other division that they play every year, for the Hokies it's Boston College, for UVa it's Maryland, for Miami it's Fla. State, etc. That's a total of 6 conference games. The other 5 teams in the other division are rotated in and out in two year increments on a home and home basis, this year the Hokies play Maryland and N.C. State, for a total of 8 ACC games. The overall conference records are used in determining divisional champs. The only time the division records are used is for tiebreakers. I think this is correct, if not, Doug or Randy can let me know.

Anthony Poindexter's jersey is being retired this coming Saturday before the Homecoming Game. He had 19 tackles in games -- TWICE. Lots more on his resume' than that. I know we're beneath the dung heap football wise, but perhaps if we ask the Hokies real nice-like, they might let the Roanoke Times talk just a tad about Poindexter being recognized this weekend. Pretty please Frank's paper, I mean, Roanoke Times?
