This is without a doubt the worst Top 25 I've seen. Do you actually watch the games or just pull names out of a hat?
Comment by Richard — October 25, 2009 @ 10:35 pm
You really don't deserve a ballot if your going to make picks like these.
Comment by Original Greg — October 26, 2009 @ 10:29 am
You seriously must have accidentally left Miami off your list. They beat both Georgia Tech and Oklahoma. Need to proofread your work before you post.

Sorry Doug, apparently everybody is entitled to an opinion except you.

Nope!

Justafan there is a difference between having an opinion and having a vote that impacts the national rankings.

Original Greg,
Over 30 years of experience, constant professionalism and the respect and admiration of his peers have earned Doug the privilege to participant in the Top 25 voting process. I feel confident he takes the responsibility seriously.
His Top 25 is in line with all the major polls, so I don’t really understand why you would make such a comment.
Comment by Joe — October 27, 2009 @ 1:50 pm
Well Joe obviously you haven't looked at the latest poll. Miami is ranked 18th and Cincinnati is 5th. Doug has Miami unranked and Cincinnati ranked 10th. Those seem a to be a bit off to me and I'm using my right to free speach to express my displeasure in Doug's voting.
If Division I had a playoff system it wouldn't matter but since they don't the polls decide who gets to play where. I didn't say Doug didn't take it seriously, I stated my opinion that Doug's poll is incorrect and his ballot shouldn't count.
Also, Doug is a big boy and if he has issues with anything stated hear, I'm sure he can comment himself and he usually does. He doesn't need you reading his resume and fighting his battles for him.
Comment by Original Greg — October 27, 2009 @ 2:23 pm
Sorry, that should be anything state here not hear.
Comment by Original Greg — October 27, 2009 @ 2:46 pm
Original Greg,
Use your right to free speach all you want, however; don't expect others to stand by and watch you sucker punch those who do not agree with you. Free speech does not only apply to you.
By the way, in the BCS poll Cincinnati is ranked 8th (in case you need help, 8 is closer to 10 than 5). My guess is that by the end of the season Miami will not be ranked in any major poll. They have no defense and obviously cannot play in the rain.
I made my post to point out that your statement of "You really don't deserve a ballot if your going to make picks like these" lacks intellectual integrity.
Enjoy the rest of the season.

Greg, don't worry about the typo, we all make them. Just because you don't agree with Doug doesn't mean his ballot shouldn't count. That's democracy. Besides, the AP poll doesn't decide where teams play in the post season. It's not even included in the BCS rankings.

I would like to comment on the GT and VT game.As Bud Foster and other coach's said there were some terrible calls and some terrible plays that was not called.I have watched this game again, our defense gave up a lot of yards.I saw on ESPN where one of the officals moved the ball to give GT a first down.Look there is way to much of this going on,you can't beat the officals and the team.Every game you watch there are Head to Head hits nothing called,Players trying to hurt other players.THE ACC NEEDS TO DO THERE JOB AND STOP THIS NOW.
I believe VT will be fine.GT will loose a game and VT willwin the ACC.You will not find a better team, coaching staff.Let's stop and remeber these kids are young. Our Offense is outstanding.I wish Taylor could pass more, that's what he does bes and that wins games.GOD BLESS OUR PLAYERS AND STAFF. Sorry Joe I didn't realize this blog was only for people who think like you. It appears you are the one throwing sucker punches. Your comments show you to be the typical self serving Hokie fan who thinks Tech is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
And intellectual integrity, really? The fact that you think intellectual integrity has anything to do with a sports blog shows your limited depth of knowledge in anything worth debating so I will make this my last post on this subject. You too enjoy the rest of the season and enjoy your third trip to Atlanta this year.
Comment by Original Greg — October 27, 2009 @ 11:16 pm
Rave on Pat. GT will beat two more SEC teams this year to go 3-0 against that mighty league, and along the way beat two more ACC teams. Your turn to beat an SEC team hopefully will come yet this year.
This is all fun and games. I Love it!
Here's the real bottom line---A 2001 Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets graduate was killed while at war in Afghanistan, the fourth member of his cadet class killed since their graduation.
Marine Capt. David S. Mitchell, 30, had been serving for Operation Enduring Freedom in the Helmand province. He was one of four marines killed Monday, according to a statement from the U.S. Defense Department.
All of us GT fans mourn with you and love you--except on special days. WE love all our students, always.

O. Greg,
If you really feel so cynical, then why all the outrage????????
Comment by David — October 28, 2009 @ 12:32 am
O. Greg, I couldn't let this pass. You said:
"And intellectual integrity, really? The fact that you think intellectual integrity has anything to do with a sports blog shows your limited depth of knowledge in anything worth debating so I will make this my last post on this subject. You too enjoy the rest of the season and enjoy your third trip to Atlanta this year."
By this statement and the fact you are a frequent contributor, one can only conclude that you are telling us you have no intellectual integrity.
Quite an admission. Also, if the Hokies go to Atlanta in January, we will enjoy that trip. If memory serves, you have said in the past you are a UNC fan. Do you think they will be playing in January?

Thanks Roudyred, Hokie fans appreciate the thoughtfulness on the loss of a fine and brave Hokie.

This is quite the POLL dance. The way Tech works the poll (pole) they would be the highest paid dancer on stage. "Get your dollars out boys and don't forget to tip your waitress."
