Eat more chicken, ACC!

ATLANTA -- Bock, bock, bock!

That will continue to be a staple item on the postseason football menu for the ACC.

Chick-fil-A Bowl officials and the ACC announced Wednesday that they have reached a four-year extension to their existing agreement when it comes to postseason destinations.

"Our 18-year partnership with the ACC is among the most important assets we have and is a huge part of our bowl's success," said Gary Stokan, CFA bowl president and CEO.

"The ACC is a big part of our identity. It's who we are. We consider it a privilege to provide their member institutions in both the Chick-fil-A Bowl and in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game."

The ACC has been a conference tie-in to the Atlanta-based bowl since 1992. The CFA Bowl has owned the first non-automatic selection from the league since 2006.  An ACC team has played in 30 of the 41 CFA Bowls -- formerly known as the Peach Bowl -- dating back to 1968.

This year's ACC team will face an SEC team on Dec. 31 at 7:30 p.m., at the Georgia Dome. ESPN will televise the contest.

Virginia Tech played in the CFA Bowl in 2006, losing to Georgia 31-24.

The 14th-ranked Hokies, who lost 34-24 to Alabama in the CFA Kickoff Classic on Sept. 5, will be among the serious candidates for this year's CFA Bowl unless Georgia Tech loses one of its final two ACC contests -- on Nov. 7 at home vs. Wake Forest and Nov. 14 at Duke.

CFA Bowl officials are scheduled to be in attendance for the Hokies' Thursday night contest against North Carolina at Lane Stadium.
