20JAN09--Commando Training: Ambush

The commando company completed its training with a class on ambush and a culmination exercise.  Without a doubt, the commandos are significantly more competent infantrymen than a week ago.

The commandos take up a prone position while on dismounted patrol as per hand signal.

The commandos take up a semi-concealed position somewhat off the side of the road and await to ambush an role playing IED emplacer. They did not want to disturb the farm's field to their rear.

Notice the headgear on the commando on the right. The mount in the center of his helmet is for a pair of night vision goggles. The Iraqis do not have these goggles, but he wears it because he sees American Soldiers wear it. The commando on the left demonstrates headgear that he saw on movie, as he was not issued a helmet. The field in the background is cauliflower, a common crop in the area.

The commandos returned from the dismounted patrol/ambush to raid a house. These commandos clear the stairs and the roof top.

At the end of the day, we gave certificates of achievement to all the commandos that attended all seven days of training. They held them for the camera.
