Notes from Iraq

Award Ceremony

A few days ago, the Army recognized my team's hard work with an awards ceremony.

The 11 original combat advisers of the team that met in Kansas last May were all awarded the bronze star medal.  Of our eight augment Soldiers, who help perform vital day-to-day activities, such as driving and gunning, seven were recognized with the army commendation medal and one with the army achievement medal.

Pictures below:

Nine of the original team members after receiving bronze star medals. Two not pictured were on leave with their loved ones.

Sergeant Colon shakes the US colonel's hand after receiving his award. Major Aaron Wentworth on left, and I on the right.

The presenting officer congradulates a Soldier, after presenting him with an award.

As per custom, Soldiers saluted the presenting officer after receiving their awards, as this Soldier does with his newly-received army achievement medal, this Soldier salutes the colonel

The entire group mass for a picture underneaht our shade panels.
