Army Wives, Part 4: The List

This column is the fourth in a series focusing on Army Wives and their sacrifices.  My Army Wife, Devon Connaroe, compiled the following second half of the list, "Top Things Not To Say To The Spouse of a Deployed Soldier.”

27MAY09--Team Picture

The team got together to take a team picture this morning.  All eleven members of the military transition team are done with our two weeks of mid-tour leave, and we are together again.  Together less than two months though, as our deployment nears an end. Read more »

Memorial Day - Recognizing Soldiers Recently KIA

On this Memorial Day, we, as Americans, pause to remember our fallen Servicemembers.  19 US Servicemembers were killed in action throughout May 2009.

17MAY09--Short Notice

Today, one of our interpreters came to me while we were at the Iraqi base, saying that he needed to talk to me.  As the co-terp manager with Sergeant KC Connaughton, I have long ago grown accustom to the terp's trying to haggle for extra leave days.  So I asked, "Is this about leave?"  And he responded, "No, it is about something that you would never expect."  He was right. Mailing Address Change

My previous mailing address is no longer valid. 

The team's mail was piggybacking with a unit that is leaving theater.  Now, mail sent to our old address may take an exceedingly long period of time to reach us.

Rich Connaroe graduated from Northside High School in 2000 and VMI in 2004. Now a Captain in the U.S. Army, Connaroe begins a one-year deployment to Iraq in August.
