Christiansburg angler may have reeled in record catch
Robby Rakes of Christiansburg reeled in a hybrid striped bass from New River just below Claytor Dam on May 13 that measured 28 inches long and 20 inches in girth.
Outdoors writer Mark Taylor reports on his Wild Life blog that the committee that reviews applications for state record freshwater fish is now looking at Rakes' haul as a possible record.
