Food writer joins debate over Chipotle
Who knew people were so excited about burritos?
The discussion over the new Chipotle restaurant headed for downtown Blacksburg has now extended over to food writer Lindsey Nair's Fridge Magnet blog.
You'll recall that we reported in a post on June 2 that the Denver-based burrito chain plans to open in downtown Blacksburg, across from Moe's Southwest Grill. And we had more details in the story in Wednesday's Current.
Then business writer Jenny Boone opened a discussion thread about Chipotle on her Storefront retail blog that proved quite lively. And now Lindsey has done the same.
So, if you want to weigh in about Chipotole -- or Moe's -- or anything else restaurant-related in the New River Valley, you now have more choices than you do burrito outlets, it seems. You can choose the Jenny blog, the Lindsey blog, or the New River Notebook blog here.

Chipotle is a welcome chain to the area. They offer a simple, straight forward menu that simply delivers great flavor at a reasonable price which is what Blacksburg continues to need. I just wish the additional variety and competition continues, the area needs more restaurants and especially with business waning in Blacksburg hopefully this provides a boost.

Once around the counter at Moe's was enough for me. Food was cold and not very good but it was very expensive.
I think they need some competition, Chipotle should be able to do a shake up.

I am so excited about Blacksburg getting a Chipotle's. Finally, a place to get decent burritos and tacos instead of going all the way to Roanoke to Alejandro's (which has pretty tasty food as well). I miss the fast-food taco shops (which is a stable in San Diego) and have always resorted to making my own mexican food since I moved out here. We need decent places to get burritos/tacos or other mexican food. Moe's is tex-mex, too bland and an insult to tex-mex cuisine. The other mexican restaurants in Blacksburg are too bland and discusting to mention.
