Pearisburg's The Bank restaurant closure temporary

The closure of popular Pearisburg restaurant The Bank Food and Drink is temporary, owner Linda Hayes said Tuesday.

The restaurant closed May 31 after chef Cunninghame West accepted a job offer to be executive chef over two new restaurants in Houston, Tx., Hayes said.

"It was an opportunity he could not turn down and we're excited for him," Hayes said. "As a result, that meant he was not able to complete the lease, but we certainly understood and you can't deny someone that opportunity."

But it will reopen before the end of the month under new management, Hayes said, adding more information would be forthcoming soon. There will be new menu items and wine pairings, she said.

During the closure, the restaurant is also being painted and the kitchen is getting some new equipment, Hayes said.

The Hayes bought the 100-year-old building and renovated it, opening the restaurant in 2005

The Hayes also own The Inn at Riverbend in Giles County.
