Former Eastern Montgomery prinicipal faulted in SOL probe
The Virginia Department of Education has implicated Nelson Simpkins, Montgomery County’s supervisor of secondary education, in its investigation of Standards of Learning irregularities at Eastern Montgomery High School.
Reporter Anna Mallory has more details.

I have worked with Nelson, at Christiansburg HS. He would not divert students from being considered and tested with other students. If there's a problem here, it's with the notion of NCLB that all students reach a particular 'score.' Nelson has worked very hard to insure that students had the maximum opportunity for learning and to hire teachers who could provide that learning experience for students.
The charge, in my view, is bogus.

Alice, I do not think you read the article. It had nothing to do with the scores but Nelson keeping students out of the testing for fear they would not score high. It was not just 1 kid, it was 39 students. Out of the 39 students, they could not find a reason for 38 of them to keep them out of the testing. I have known Nelson for years and most people who know him are not surprised at all.
