New River Notebook

Tonight's football forecast (and Saturday's too)

There's a full slate of high school games tonight: Blacksburg at Northside. Bassett at Christiansburg. Craig County at Eastern Montgomery. James River at Auburn. George Wythe at Floyd. Radford at Galax.

And then, of course, Nebraska comes to town against Virginia Tech on Saturday. Things look pretty drab and dreary out right now, so we asked weather journalist Kevin Myatt what he saw happening tonight. Here's Kevin's take on things:

We are in a period of several drab days -- cloudy, mild, some drizzle and fog each day through at least Monday. Temperatures tonight will be pleasant, likely in the mid 60s to low 70s. Be prepared for a passing shower, but there probably won't be enough rain for the games to get muddy.

For more weather news, see Kevin's Weather Journal blog.

And, as always, if you're headed to a game -- no matter what level-- you can share photos at newriver@roanoke.com.
