Volunteer searchers now combing Charlottesville in Harrington case

Teams of volunteers are today combing Charlottesville, looking for any evidence that relates to the disappearance of Morgan Harrington, the Virginia Tech student who went missing at the Metallica concert last month.

Did you know Nidal Malik Hasan?

The suspect in the Fort Hood shootings is identified as Nidal Malik Hasan, a Virginia Tech grad.

According to Virginia Tech records, Nidal Malik Hasan first enrolled at Virginia Tech for Summer Session II in 1992, and completed coursework in Spring Semester 1995. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in biochemistry from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He minored in biology and chemistry.

Military says Fort Hood shooting suspect was Virginia Tech grad

Military officials say the suspected shooter at Fort Hood was a graduate of Virginia Tech, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997.

He is identified as Nidal Malik Hasan or Malik Nadal Hasan.

Harringtons seek community help in finding missing daughter

The father of missing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington today announced a volunteer search effort to be conducted this weekend.

Dan Harrington, along with wife Gil, asked for help from community members in the effort that will take place Friday through Sunday. Harrington did not provide specific details, but said information would soon be posted on the Web site findmorgan.com.

Police: Harrington suffered facial injury at concert

Virginia State Police confirmed today that missing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington sustained a facial injury before she vanished from an Oct. 17 Metallica concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville.

State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said investigators didn't disclose the fact earlier because the injury was consistent with what a person would sustain after falling and doesn't appear to be related to her disappearance.

Both candidates for governor will be in Blacksburg Thursday, campaigning in and around the tailgating at the Virginia Tech - North Carolina game.

Here are the official schedules for both Republican Bob McDonnell and Democrat Creigh Deeds. McDonnell's is a little sparse on details at the moment; if we get more specifics, we'll post them here.

4:30 PM IN BLACKSBURG - TAILGATE WITH VIRGINIA TECH YOUNG DEMOCRATS. Sen. Deeds will join the Virginia Tech Young Democrats for a tailgate before the Virginia Tech Hokies take on the University of North Carolina Tarheels. Deeds will talk to students about the importance of getting out to vote on November 3rd.
