Obama ends by calling crowd to action

Obama ended his speech with an appeal to action. He repeated portions of his stump speech from Thursday, saying he’d been ahead in the polls prior to the New Hampshire primary – where Hillary Clinton won.
“You can’t pay attention to the polls,” Obama said. “We’ve got to keep making our case for change.”
The entire speech lasted just under 40 minutes – significantly shorter than the town halls in Bristol, Martinsville and Lynchburg earlier this summer. Too, Obama kept largely to his stump speech and talking points that emerged from Wednesday’s debate with McCain.
Still, the crowd of about 8,250 – according to an official from the Roanoke fire marshal’s office –was enthusiastic.
Over the next few days Obama is scheduled to continue his tour through a number of battleground states, including Missouri, North Carolina and Florida.

Senator Obama's speech today although somewhat repeated, was well put and hopefully had some appeal to this red voting state. The senator had several good points and seems to understand what middle to low class Roanoke citizens are going through in todays tough economy.

I think people need to WAKE UP and listen to what Obama is NOT saying with his fancy speeches, his words that have a tinge of the Rev. Wright who is his "mentor" in them. He is telling things about Senator McCain that are simply NOT TRUE and people seem to be in "awe" of him and do not listen closely to his "raising" taxes because of the 95% of the people he so eloquently speaks of that will save, 40% of these people DO NOT PAY taxes unless they pay taxes on their SS earnings and that would be a small percentage according to his scale...and CorporationS.......don't pay takes, the consumers do! Do you want government to TELL YOU where YOUR money is to be spent, to govern your healthcare (and not be able to go to an ER unless YOU PAY)....read BETWEEN THE LINES...go RESEARCH OBAMA! Read his books. Between all his " associaltions " that "keep on giving" that he wants to protect and say I was 8 years old...not in 2001! not in 2002! And for 20 years Rev. Wright was his mentor along with Farrakan, Phlegar, and Frank Davis...research him! A Hawaii mentor! And what about his days of drug use, do "we the people" have a RIGHT to know about these days, the days at Harvard, Columbia, his life is a CLOSED BOOK! Senator John McCain has been an HONORABLE MAN and HAS SERVED THIS COUNTRY all of his life...has gave of himself and NOW still wants to give back to the country because that is HIS CALLING/HIS LOVE...TO GET THIS COUNTRY BACK TO THE USA THAT WE LOVE AND WANT TO LIVE FREE IN FREELY...ALONG WITH AN AMAZING VP CANDIDATE THAT DOES NOT DESERVE ALL OF THE "TRASHY REPORTING" that has been thrown at her! She is a qualified, educated and diverse woman that can be a real ASSET TO THE MCCAIN/PALIN TICKET! SO Wake Up VIRGINIA!
