Analysis: Cleaveland holds 33-vote lead, waiting on city
The last precinct in Roanoke County has reported, so now the Republican primary for the 17th District House of Delegates seat comes down to the city -- which so far hasn't reported anything to the State Board of Elections.
For now, Bill Cleaveland holds a 33-vote lead over Chris Head, with Mike Wray in third place:
Cleaveland 522
Head 489
Wray 479
Johnson 191
Williams 157

(1) What's the deal with the INCREDIBLY slow reporting in Roanoke?
(2) Where did the AP get the data to call the race for Onzlee? Was there exit polling?

Good questions. AP must have someone at the registrar's office, or in the precincts, or somewhere calling in some numbers. But I haven't seen them. I've heard some UNOFFICIAL and INCOMPLETE numbers from the city, but I'm not inclined to pass on numbers I can't verify. Usually the city is pretty prompt about reporting. That said -- I'm relying on numbers from the State Board of Elections, so the numbers could be somewhere in transit.
