Police wish to speak to anyone in the Caldwell Fields/shooting range area last Wednesday or early Thursday
Lt. Brian Wright with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office just released the following:
"Investigators from our Office are seeking to speak with anyone who was in the area of Caldwell Fields or the Jefferson National Forest Shooting Range on Craig Creek Road between the times of 8:00 a.m. Wednesday August 26 and 8:00 a.m. Thursday August 27.
We would like to speak with anyone who was in or around these areas during this time-frame regardless of whether they believe they have information that may be helpful. It is possible that they may unknowingly have information that could assist in the double homicide investigation being worked by our Office. We are asking them to call (540) 382-2951."

This is very concerning. This tells me the police are lost. If they want or need the public's help, they need to release more details surrounding what happened. I for one am concerned and frightened by the fact that we have no idea if this was a random attack or something that was drawn up. Do the two victims not have roommates or anyone else that knew what they were going to do? Do they not have phone calls/texts that can be looked at? Have they looked into weapons that are checked in by college students? Did they have money on them? How can this be happening?

Once again, CSI has trained the world to believe a case can be solved in an hour and that every case can be solved. Give the police a break. I'm sure they are doing everything they can with what little evidence they have. I'm sure they also have more information than they are releasing to the media. They are not releasing certain information b/c they don't want to jeopardize the investigation. But, rather than think that, you think they are lost. Reality is, they may not be able to find out who did this horrible thing. It was in a remote location with no witnesses. I hope they are able to find out who did it and bring them to justice so we all can feel safer. But, if they can't, don't assume it's because of some incompetence on their part.....it may just be an unsolvable crime.

Despite what your ignorance may tell you, being lost does not mean incompetence. I was in no way bashing the ability of the police to do their job. I was just suggesting that in order for the public to be more apt to aiding them, more details should probably be released. Don't categorize me with some of the knuckleheads that post here. Get off your high horse.
