Analysis: McDonnell may win biggest Republican victory ever
We have 82 percent of the vote in. Right now, McDonnell is polling 60 percent of the vote to Deeds' 40 percent.
If that margin holds up, that means Bob McDonnell would have won the biggest Republican victory ever in a governor's race -- and the biggest victory for either party since Democrat Albertis Harrison in 1961, back when Virginia was still a one-party state.
McDonnell's 60 percent would eclipse the 58 percent that Republican George Allen got in 1993, which until now has stood as the biggest landslide of the modern era. You have to go back to the pre-modern era, of Harrison's victory over Clyde Pearson in 1961 to find a bigger blow-out.
