Update: VT wrestling lawsuit
If anyone was counting down the days until Oct. 10, anxiously awaiting the next bit of news in the Virginia Tech wrestling lawsuit -- well, you'll have to wait a bit longer.
Attorneys for the plaintiffs and defendants met today in chambers with Montgomery County Circuit Court judge Robert M. D. Turk, but it will be about a week until Turk rules on the university's motion to have the suit dismissed, plaintiffs' attorney John J. Robertson said.
Dunno if this is going to be settled in time for the aggrieved wrestlers to compete in Iowa's season opener in a few weeks -- though in truth, some of them won't crack the Hawkeyes' lineup this year anyway.

I've just found your blog today and need to offer up a couple of opinions from a 20+ year Hawkeye wrestling season ticket holder - me.
First, Virginia Tech seems to be needlessly impeding the careers of at least 2 potential olympic athletes. None of these kids came to VA Tech because of the school or because they loved Blacksburg. They came to be coached by Tom Brands. The "he said, she said" nature of this dispute will not play well in the courts and it seems a shame to harm the kids for no good reason.
Second, the last paragraph of your latest entry seems to minimize the impact on both the individuals and the team. Jay Borschel and Brent Metcalf would almost certainly be All-Americans this year (even though Borschel would probably have to wrestle at 184). Those points could be the difference between a Hawkeye NCAA championship and another 4th place finish.
Somehow I think J Robinson and John Smith are rooting for Virginia Tech.
