Virginia Tech has extended its lead to 17-3. Darren Evans dove into the end zone on fourth-and-goal from the 1 with 25 seconds left in the first half. Macho Harris' 32-yard punt return enabled Tech to start the drive at the WK 38.
Tech had not impressed on its previous two series. One of those ended with Tyrod Taylor fumbling the ball away at the WK 11.
