VHSL, VIS playoff points: Through Nov. 1

NOTE: VHSL (public schools) points determine at-large playoff berths and seedings for regional football playoffs. District champions automatically qualify. In the event of a tie for a district title, the Rating Scale serves as the tie-breaker unless a district has worked out its own tie-breaker procedure. VIS (private schools) points solely determine which teams make the playoffs and the seedings. There are no automatic VIS playoff qualifiers.

  1. I travel around the state watching high school football and from looking at this, I can tell that the Northwest Region is easily the weakest region in Group AAA in both Division 6 and in Division 5. Sorry to have to :D say it. Any opinions out there?

  2. The River Ridge District has to be by far one of the toughtest across the Commonwealth. Wish I could watch the Region IV Division IV "playoff" game between Christiansburg and Blacksburg this Friday. The winner is in the playoffs, the loser is out.
An even greater game in Region IV Division IV this Friday is the Salem at Pulaski County game. The winner will be district champion and the #1 seed in the playoffs while the loser will be the #2 seed in the playoffs. They'll then meet again, likely in the Regional Championship, where I would bet that the team that loses this Friday will win the 2nd meeting.
