Cook out for season
Brittany Cook has torn the ACL in her right knee and will miss the entire season, Virginia Tech coach Beth Dunkenberger said Thursday. Cook was the ACC's leading scorer last season.
"My heart aches for her and her teammates feel so bad for her," Dunkenberger said. "Obviously you'll miss the leading scorer in the ACC, but right now everybody wants to step up. She said she's going to be there for them. She told them how much she believes in them and they all want to prove that all of this hard work is going to pay off."
Initially doctors thought the injury was just a sprain, but the ACL tear was revealed in an MRI late Wednesday,Dunkenberger said. Cook will have surgery to repair the tear next week.

This is very bad news for Brittany. It is the worst possible news for a weak team, very weak. Dunkenberger is not getting it done and it is not getting any better. She is a total failure. She will probably be the next coach at Tech going to be shown the door, the sooner the better, time is wasting, get on with it before Tech falls into a lower place than it is in now. She must go. Back to the article, too bad for Brittany, how did she have such a good year on a team like this?

Frank, I couldn't agree more but don't hold your breath. Look how they're tolerating Brian Stinespring's incompetency on the football side. I wrote a letter last year begging Jim Weaver to make a coaching change before irreperable damage was done to the program. Of course I didn't get a response, or even an acknowledgement. She can't recruit, she can't manage the clock, she looks baffled half the time, she's boring on TV and radio, and the fan base is eroding quickly. I used to go to alot of games but no more, it's not worth the drive from Roanoke. The fans, and especially the players deserve better.

Couldn't agree more about the women's team. Ever since Dunkenberger replaced Bonnie Hendrickson, the team has been in decline, and I haven't been to many games at all. I remember going to several games as a student and having a raucus crowd at Cassell cheering them on, but those were different times. I thought the move to the ACC would be a boost to the program given how well they had played in the Big East, because I thought they could improve their recruiting...but it really hasn't happened. I aghree that new faces are needed to lead several aspects of VT athletics.
