Vick's acts senseless and cruel

Just when I thought I couldn’t be more disgusted by Michael Vick, new information surfaced Friday that he put family pets in rings with pit bulls on at least two occasions and thought it was funny watching the trained killers injure or kill the helpless dogs. As the owner of two pet dogs, my initial thought was that they could have been victims of this senseless, cruel and despicable torture. Michael Vick doesn’t deserve to return to the NFL and I hope if he does PETA hounds (pun intended) him and the franchise that signs him unmercifully. Also, Virginia Tech athletic director Jim Weaver remove his name from Lane Stadium now! Leaving his name there is disrespectful to Carroll Dale, Bruce Smith, Jim Pyne and others who have also been honored.  — Buddy Wright

  1. I agree that we need to take his name off of anytyhing at all at the VT campus. Michael Vick Hall needs to be renamed to anything but MV Hall. He is a delinquent that needs to stay in jail.

  2. Hey Buddy - yes you Mr. Holier than thou. Mike Vick did not witness and accessorize a (human) murder. he did not beat his helpless wife (human) - but there are players who did just that and are happily playing football again. So let me get this straight buddy - you can beat your wife (human) half to death and it's OK, you get a second chance - besides, she probably deserved it - right buddy? Holier than thou people who want to equate human beings to animals are stupidly mistaken. Everybody (human) deserves a second chance. Besides, these PETA morons, among other things, want people to stop drinking cow's milk for some illogical reason - they're nut cases - and buddy's right there with them.

  3. Chris.....you need professional help! Any life, human or animal does not deserve the cruelty Vick and his cronies, by the way, how many pitbulls do you own, frigging clown.

P.S. Do you understand what "second chance" means? Vick has had way too many of them. And if you beat your wife like you have commented on, you should be Vick's cell mate for about 100 years. You are sick!

  4. Another thing Buddy is that Mike help build Tech to where it is,and while he was there he did not get into any trouble. Also is killing dogs any different from killing deers, and I relize that some hunt to eat but in China they eat dogs,so is their any difference.

  5. To Chris:
The topic is what Vick did, not what other people did or what PETA wants people to do. Vick's actions are despicable. I doubt that the "hollier than thou" people that you refer to would condone people cruelty. And by the way, if Vick did to people what he did to dogs, he would have received a life sentence or the death penalty, so his punishment doesn't equate to punishment that he would have received had he been torturing humans.

I agree that Vick's name should not be in Lane Stadium, but he did a lot for Weaver and Beamer, so it will probably stay there, at least until they retire. That opinion coming from a Virginia Tech graduate.

  6. Its funny to me there are people murdered everyday in this country and 99.9% of then dont recieve any poblicity at all and here we are a year later still talking about MV. Let it go, get a life. MV funded and or participated in the dog fighing ring and is doing his time and paid his fines. Here is TN a woman shot her sleeping husband in the back. She is out of jail after year and has custody of her 3 kids and she has been accepted back into the community and you arent writing about her. Your just trying to milk every ounce of publicity off of MV that you can. Your probably of of those Vegie eating dirt people. Oh and by the way I love dogs.

  7. I have to agree with Chris on this. Vick has been crucified for what is really a PC crime. Yes, it was, but it's not worse than abuse of humans. Vick has paid for this crime with jail time and the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars. The punishment was way too severe.

  8. While we all preach about Mike Vick it will not change anything that has happened or will happen in the future! I love my animals and in all do reality most all of us do. However, it has been known for centuries that people fight dogs, roosters etc! When saying one should remove Vick's name off of anything that has to do with Virginia Tech that is not as easy as it was for him to work hard on taking the football team and the program to where it is now! It is time to move on and allow this man to get on with his future! He is not the nice guy we all would like for him to be but he is a man who has accomplished many things good and some bad!
I would think that we all have learned something from this event and even moreso the event that took place on April 16...Hate is not something we should hold in our hearts!!!! Taking the negative and turning it around and working it into positive is what we all need to do now...Life has its good and its bad! Allow Vick to learn from his mistakes and move on!

  9. When people were there protesting in Smithfield, Virginia against Mike Vick, did they stop off at Smithfield Hams to send any gifts to friends?

  10. Mike Vick made large donations to VT, and brought the program into the big time. I hope they resist all these PETA nuts who value animal life more than human life.

  11. This message is to Chris R. aka "Buddy"

You sound like the kind of person who would beat his wife "because she deserves it", take a break from that fun activity to electrocute your dog, and then sit at the dinner table drinking a bunch of beer before heading to the bowling alley in your jacked-up pick-up truck!!

What MV did with those dogs was cruel, but it was even more STUPID, than it was cruel, which at this point I am sure he understands.

Has he paid the price? Just about done. Does he deserve a second chance since he has paid his dues to society? He sure does.

But for you -Chris R.- to justify MV's stupidity by comparing it to more heinous crimes that other "celebrity" athletes have committed and gotten away with un-punished or under punished is ridiculous.

The right thing to do is for the courts to hold ALL people accountable for their actions regardless of "who they are"

If you think this is about PETA you are nuts. This is about NOT HAVING A DOUBLE STANDARD when it comes to how "celebrities" are held accountable for their actions vs. how YOU would be held accountable if you did what MV and the other "happily playing football" wife-beaters do - and get away with.

So, Chris, try not to drive your truck into someone on the way home from the bowling alley, you may get put in jail for life if you kill someone, even if "they deserve it".
