All-state QB commits to Keydets

Adam Morgan, the first-team All-Group AAA quarterback and the holder of five state passing records, made an oral commitment to play for VMI on Wednesdaty night.

Morgan (6 feet, 200 pounds) passed for 3,499 yards and 48 touchdowns as a senior at Dinwiddie High School, which played in the Group AAA Division 5 championship game.

Morgan is rated the No. 64 prospect in Virginia by The Roanoke Times.

  1. It's hard to say exactly how tall Adam Morgan is, but if other players can list themselves at any heights and weights they want, then why not him also?
    He's a confident player who throws crisp passes. He could be a fine player for VMI.....but they rarely pass. They ran for 3932 yards this past year and passed for 853. They ran the ball 614 times this year and passed it 86 times. So, is he just going there to hand it off? Hopefully they'll change their style. VMI only won one conference game this season, so why not change their style of offense?

    Their triple option offense led all of I-AA in rushing and was ranked in the top 10 in both scoring and total offense. Why change that? If the opposing defense can't stop your running game, then why throw it?

  4. Not sure Morgan had any other I-AA offers.

    I don't think Sparky Woods was an option guy before he got to VMI.

    He used the option this year because it was what the previous staff had run and the players had a comfort level with it.
