Salem 68, Spotswood 54
Jerome Hairston scored 17 points to lead Salem while Reggie Barnette added 13, Travis McDaniel scored 11 and Stephen Barnette notched 10 as the Spartans knocked off Spotswood 68-54 in the Group AA Division 4 quarterfinals at James Madison University Convocation Center.
The Trailblazers had only lost once this season and were ranked No. 1 among AA schools by the Associated Press. The first quarter was tight but a 14-0 run in the second broke the game open and Salem (17-10) never lost its double-digit lead. Marlon Organ led Spotswood (24-2) with 16 points.
