I don't think Joanna Stevens lost a single mile or 1600 race all season to ANYONE in Virginia, with the exception of maybe 1 race. I'm not completely sure, but I'm almost positive it's the same case with the 3200/2 mile. No one else in the Timesland area can say that about their events, especially considering the competition Stevens has run against this season.

I think Timesland Athlete of the Year should go to William Fleming's Kayla Lewis or Blacksburg's Joanna Stevens. In the state's rankings Lewis threw the #1 throw in all of Virginia (that is in all classification: A, AA, AAA, private school)in the shotput and was #6 in the discus. Amber Church ran/ jumped exceptionally well but her best event (100 hurdles) she is ranked #7 in the state (also the AA state champ). Her next best event, the 300 hurdles she is #16. All her other events she is not in the top 50. Church did score a ton of points at the state meet. Joanna Stevens is ranked #3 in the 1600 (although converted mile makes her #2) and #4 in the 3200 in all classifications and won both state titles (the 3200 by 15 seconds for AA!). She is also on what has to be the fastest 4x800 (#3 in all classifications ths year)in Timeland history and is for Virginia AA history. Also on 2nd fastest 4x400 for this years Timesland. So although Church is an amazing athlete, my vote is for Lewis or Stevens as both stand at the top or closer to the top of the mountain in their events. All three are terrific athletes, thats for sure.

i think that kayla lewis was the best shot putter and discus thower on this side of the state. she only lost 2 meets all outdoor season. she had the best throw in the state in the shot (43 3/4). she should be the female times-land athlete of the year. she won indoor/outdoor champion in 2008/ and runner up indoor/outdoor in 09 and also was 4th in the discus inthe state in 2009. she has been the one all thowers have been shooting for all year long.

Amber Church should be Female Times-Land Athlete of the year. To go with, to go with what is on the above list she ran a 13.04 (fat) 100 meters at the RRD Pre-District meet. That ranks her in 7 different events.
