Hidden Valley girls bounced in soccer

RADFORD -- Broad Run ended Hidden Valley's hopes of a state title Sunday, beating the Titans 3-0 in the Group AA girls' soccer final at Radford University.

Timesland teams are now 0-4 in state finals today, with only Blacksburg boys' soccer left to play.

No Timesland school has won a state team title at the Jubilee this year, including Saturday's state team finals in tennis. Three Timesland doubles pairs won state tennis titles Saturday.

The Spartans become the first team in Group AA Girls Soccer history to win back-to-back state titles. It was also the third state title in school history for Broad Run, which is also a new Group AA Girls Soccer standard.

Erin Brady (14th minute), Whitney Church (39th minute) and Valerie Powell (49th minute) each found the back of the net for Broad Run, while Kelly Evans provided the game’s only assist on Brady’s eventual difference maker.

Broad Run finished with an 8-1 advantage in shots and finished with a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
