Carolina League loses in 10
Houston Astros prospect Jonathan Gaston hit a first-pitch home run in the bottom of the 10th inning off Salem's Derrick Loop to lead the California League All-Stars to a 2-1 win over the Carolina Leaguers late Tuesday night in Lake Elsinore, Calif.
Loop, who came in with two out and runner at third in the eighth, went 1 1/3 innings without allowing a batter to reach base and struck out two before taking the mound again in the 10th.
Salem's Ryne Miller pitched two perfect innings, striking out five in the fourth and fifth innings.
