UVa loses freshman

Dominique Wallace, Virginia's leading rusher Saturday in a 37-34 loss at Southern Mississippi, suffered a sprained foot and will require surgery that will cause him to miss the remainder of the season.

Wallace, who carried 11 times for 35 yards, has the grounds for a hardship appeal that would enable him to save a year's eligiblity.
