Basic finance

An upcoming editorial will laud Salem schools for requiring high school students to understand basic finance before graduation. Would that all teens -- and adults -- understand debt, credit and financial statements.

  1. If only they could get a course in basic economics.

Then they wouldn't fall prey to idiotic stories about 'how the oil companies are gouging people by controlling oil prices.'

  2. Would make more sense if they got basic training on how to maintain and balance a check book followed by the importance of maintaining credit rating and managing a credit card.

The rest of Josh's remarks are not in line with the topic of helping young people manage personal finances (not to mention that he's a bit off base as well).
