Presidential campaign doesn't inspire
Dan Radmacher
Radmacher is the editorial page editor of The Roanoke Times.
Even though I consider myself a news junkie -- it comes with the job -- I just cannot force myself to get interested, much less excited, about the presidential campaign yet. It's just too early. And the candidates are just too uninspiring.

I can't imagine anyone who would want to be president in 2008. It will take a very strong leader to undo the mess that the present administration has put us in.
We have lost respect around the world and experienced corruption of a magnitude that will make everyone forget President Clinton's caper. Times were much better with Bubba in charge.
I do not see anyone presently in the field that fits what we need. I really feel that Al Gore & Fred Thompson will duke it out.

Religion and politics is an issue that really gets me interested in politics. In the land of Dr. Falwell and reaction to Dr. Falwell's approach to religion and politics, why don't you also get excited about democrats "getting religion"? I was particularly impressed with a speech Barach Obama gave last week about politics and religion. Here is a link to the speech:

I think this speech ranks up there with Kennedy's speech to the Baptist convention in 1960. What do you think?

I keep hearing we've lost so much respect around the world and I look for evidence. In recent European elections MERKEL and Sokorsky( I know i misspelled that) were chosen even though they wanted to strengthen ties to the US..leaders of the free world come here often-Russia Britain Japan..the 6 nation talks directed at iso1ating N Korea and preventing them from developing further nuclear capabilities appears to have worked... and as far as things being better under Clinton, as a nation we were blissfully ignorant of what 8 years of neglect was about to bring us.
