Cheaters corrupt the year's best shots

Someone always has to spoil the fun. On most days, The Current prints reader-submitted photographs on page 2, hundreds of them in a year. "Your Best Shot" showcases the moments that make the New River Valley special. For some end of the year fun, the paper selected 30 of the year's best photos and asked readers to choose the best of the Best Shots in an online poll.

  1. mr trejbal I was emailed by this friend and told her picture was in the contest and her email simply stated that if you think my picture is best would you please vote for it. I in turn emailed friends and asked them to do the same so I have no idea how many people i could haved contacted 100s 100s maybe and if each of her many friends did the same thing she probably would have had the same outcome. This town is full of college students that do crazy things everyday why blame someone in her family, if you have proof then you should have disqualified the picture but that was an awful thing to say if you are not sure

  4. If this isn't the first time such a thing is happened, perhaps the Roanoke Times should hire someone for their computer department competent enough to prevent such a thing (relying on cookies?!?). Most other online polls, contests, etc, have certainly found ways to prevent ballot stuffing.
