Steppin' Out, just not rockin' out
The NRV Current today had a preview of this weekend's Steppin' Out festival in Blacksburg. This from the story:
Organizers try to bring in all kinds of music to fit everyone's tastes, (DLP Concerts' Dylan) Locke said, including blues, jazz, bluegrass, Middle Eastern and old-time.
I'm reminded of a line from "The Blues Brothers"
Elwood: Er.. what kind of music do you usually have here?
Claire: Oh, we got both kinds. We got Country, and Western.
I'll attend Steppin' Out this weekend, but it won't be for the music.

Ok, Christian, I have to nibble on this bait. What do you mean by your last comment? Are you just not a fan of bluegrass, old-time, and Middle Eastern music?
I'm really wondering where they came up with that interesting mix of styles.

That's correct. My degree of not being a fan of those types of music ranges from loathing to indifference.

Christian, say it ain't so! You're only an hour away from the World's Capitol of Old-Time Mountain Music, even closer to Floyd, and you don't like old-time and bluegrass?!
Give it time. Keep simmering in the juices of the beautiful music and maybe you'll change your tune (har har).
I can say I'm not a big fan of Middle Eastern music. Never got into it.
