Herb #16 post: What do I not have to worry about? You have some very confusing posts, sir. Yes, I am a liberal Democrat, which is why I stated "I am as partisan as anyone"... Would that Barney Frank and Chris Dodd had the unfettered power you have attributed to them...(shouldn't YOU be kicking some Republican butt for letting them do it?) You have a whole TV Network (where you obviously get your info) and a major Newspaper, how could you NOT get the word out? BECAUSE REPUBLICANS DID NOT WANT TO either! If you are not happy, why post such vitriol about Obama voters losing their jobs? "Obama cannot succeed without Wall Street"; you better look again. Recent information I heard noted that Obama received considerable money from Wall Street as well as (what you characterize as) Republican corporations. Corporations and Wall Street will do what makes them money. Historically, the friend in need may have been the Republicans but the truth is that (much to my chagrin at times) Democrats found some love for big business and "money people" too AND the affections have been returned. There may be people like you at the masthead who hope that the heads that roll are the opposing political party, but many CEO's and "money people" will always tell you the bottom line is profit and success (which thankfully keeps us liberals employed). If you had the control you brag about, John McCain would be the President Elect. FYI, there are rich liberal Democrats too, and more on the way.

It is easy to talk trash hiding behind Intials for Names.
At least i am out there saying my peace and and giving full disclosure more then i can say for half the bloggers in here.
Afraid someone might see your true feelings.
WW dont be such a coward.
As for the failing of the housing crises 2 months before it fell Barney Frank went nationwide saying its all ok.
So I guess he got the same info that Bush got to go to war.
Give me a break.
If it walks and talks like a duck I come to the conclusion its a Duck
I guess you would analize and say what type of Duck. To set the record straight MR. WW I never said Obama lied I said that all politicians do.
When they run a campaign they know darn right they will never keep all there promises.
They need to say this is what I am going to try to Do. Not this is whats going to happen. That then becomes a LIE.

So you think its okay to lie, then, Herb? You never saw me calling anyone a liar. But since others have called your guys liars then its okay for one cast the same stone. Okay, Herb. When one makes absolute statements, as in "they All lie" (my caps for the sake of illustration) one is, indeed, lying oneself.

Those who are saying we have no idea what Obama will do have not been paying attention. He's already doing it! All those Clinton-era retreads he's naming are the people he's going to nominate for the key posts in his administration.

You don't get change from stuck-in-a-rut, "experienced" old fogeys. You get change from people with fresh ideas. Unfortunately, fresh means inexperienced, which means less competent. It's always a trade-off between innovation and experience.

With the economic crisis looming, experience is probably what we need right now. But it's not what we're going to need to get worthwhile change, long term.

Herb...

Democrats obtained control of Congress in 2006 (without a filibuster proof majority). The Republicans have controlled Congress since 1996. That looks like 10 years of Republican control Congress and 8 years of Republican control White House.

Your logic that the Democrats could have caused all this to happen from 2006 to now has too many holes in it to hold water. Republicans have no more capability than Democrats do at this point regarding the economy. It's now up to the people to decide what they want to do.

If there's ever been a doubt before, it should be crystal clear that this is a consumer based economy and before anything will happen, the consumer is going to have to feel comfortable spending again. As a part of that equasion, it will be mandatory that we get manufacturing jobs back in the states so that the population can afford to buy the goods and services being produced.

We've shipped and outsourced so many jobs out of the country that our population is finding it increasing difficult to buy goods and services having relied way to heavily on credit. Sooner or later the credit bubble will burst (and burst it has).

Bottom line is people have to work in order to draw paychecks so they can buy something...no work = no paycheck = no buying power = recession/depression.

Herb,

Please read those articles again. They clearly point out

1) that the people who dug the deepest holes were NOT the ones affected by the legislation you loathe. Quote: " Many of the biggest subprime lenders weren't banks and thus weren't covered by the Community Reinvestment Act."

2) There is good evidence that pushing these mortgage plans was Bush's attempt to get minorities to join the republican party. At the very least, it was NOT shoved down his throat. See: http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/homeownership/homeownership-policy-book-execsum.html

3) There are several subprime lenders who are doing well even now. The problem occurred when unethical lenders pushed poor risks so they could realize large profits.

oh my - i see i missed a lot since i last posted.
Herb post #7: we all already know that herb. just link we know that no matter who was elected into office could never have kept any of their promises either unless their promise was to do absolutely nothing.

I was just asking what you are so upset about already. You have absolutely no idea what obama will do in office because he hasn't even gotten there yet. I am certain McCain wouldn't be able to keep all of his promises either but somehow I think that if he were elected you wouldn't be on here running your mouth about it.

Will,
Please read your comment carefully as the economy was doing great until
the dems got control of congress and promised housing to everyone even ones who could not offord it.
That is the problem with the democratic party.
They have champaign taste with a water pocket.
WW,
I guess you had no problem calling Bush a lier along with the rest of the left cronies but when the shoe is on the other foot it feels tight doesnt it.

MY POINT IS THAT IT DOES NO GOOD TO USE HYPERBOLE AND LABEL ALL OF THOSE YOU DISLIKE OR DISAGREE WITH AS LIARS. ONE WHO DOES SO IS EITHER A LIAR OR DOES NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY TO UNDERSTAND THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEMS WITH WHICH WE ARE FACED.
Please excuse me for yelling.

Herb...

If the Republicans did such a great job of running the economy, why is it that the economy is in such a deep ditch right now?

"Sometimes its better to remain silent and be thought a fool rather than opening one's mouth and removing all doubt." (Author unknown)
