Public schools won't escape budget cuts

For Wednesday: Roanoke's council and the school board met Monday with their legislative delegation. The news is bleak. To balance the state budget, public schools will take a hit.  School  board members have asked  that if they receive  fewer state  dollars that they should be permitted to decide what programs to cut. It is a reasonable request.
