A spokesman for the House Ways and Means Committee chairman [Charlie Rangel D-NY] said there was "nothing unethical" about using donated money to pay the [parking] tickets.
I read this sentence several times before I figured out why it was strange. He substituted "unethical" where he meant "illegal". I wonder if this will be a trend.
good point Henry...and why is this legal? doesn't anyone see this as a blatant waste of money when he could just park in an authorized parking location like the rest of us?
I don't think it is legal. It is certainly unethical. The spokesman raised a trial balloon to see if people would bite. If it works, you'll see a lot more of it from Congress.
"The video of me taking money from that lobbyist looks suspicious but it is not unethical and certainly not illegal. These are not the droids you are looking for".
