Henry - Pay attention. There was only one recount. That recount was mandated by state law because the margin of victory was less than 1%. The Democrats didn't keep recounting. The state of Minnesota recounted once and Coleman lost.

Franken is a comedian. He also has a degree he earned from Harvard on an academic scholarship so he is no dummy. He didn't get in his degree like many Repugnicants like our soon-to-be former President got in to Yale - as a legacy on the "negative action" program.

Henry: "... Coleman won every recount except the last one...." That is of course quite false. There was one and only one recount. There is no truth to the statement "the Democrats just counted until the won." I'm a little tired of the rhetoric on this. Franken did not go to court even once. Every filing was by Coleman. Franken let the process run it's course. Now we could have a "what if" argument about what would have been the case had Franken's team deduced he would not prevail: I think they wanted to have the absentees counted, deducing that would put them over, and I think they saw the "case" going in their favor - IE thousands of absentees would be added back to the count - and so it could be argued all they had to do was keep quiet. Still it is quite false to say Franken or Democrats did anything wrong. All they did was let the state rules, the canvasing board and court do whatever Coleman's team - squirming from the start - forced them to do.

Actually Coleman won every recount except the last one. The Democrats just counted until they won. Coleman was worthless anyway.

We are going to love Franken in the Senate. A comedian with no political experience. That's a perfect addition to the new Camelot. Franken will be to the Democrats what Terrell Owens was to the Cowboys. Sheer fun for the other team.

If I remember right, Jesse Ventura did a decent job starting out, but the people were very happy to rid themselves of him by the time his term ended, because he became just like any other politician rather than the independent he ran as. I also doubt that Franken will make a decent politician. He might liven the floor of the Senate up a bit if he lets some choice liners fly from time to time, but I just don't see how he will be effective. But for Coleman to lose to characters like that, given that he is a "professional" politician, is pretty sad.
