Roanoke still stuck in reverse

For tomorrow we well comment on the lack of leadership still evident on Roanoke City Council.

On Monday, the mayor and council couldn't even agree to do what they had previously decided to do in hiring a consultant for the Market Building.

Without leadership, Roanoke will continue to spin its wheels, becoming more entrenched in inaction.

  1. THANK YOU...someone else sees what I see - this has been apparent for many years - the 'leaders' of this region are so slow and indecisive that it literally brings any possible growth or development to a standstill.

I was born and raised in the region, live and work in NYC now, and WOW what a difference in ability to get things done. It's a shame because Roanoke has the potential to be a vibrant place, but it needs LEADERS who can make confident and swift decisions. You can't please everyone, but any movement forward is better than no action at all.

A place with no clear direction or identity will have a difficult time attracting or sustaining successful business. I love this area and want nothing but the best for it - here's to waking this place up in 2009!
