Don't limit credit options for stuggling families

Tim Miller

Miller is the communications director at the Center for Consumer Freedom, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting consumer choices.

The credit crunch has made getting a loan more difficult than ever, which is bad news for struggling businesses and individuals trying to make ends meet. As if that weren't bad enough, legislators who are being pressured by anti-credit activists have filed legislation to further limit the financial options of borrowers who need them most. There is a new push in the Virginia General Assembly to tighten access to short-term credit, on top of the restrictions introduced last year.

  1. Limbaugh is quite intelligent and rarely off the mark. His lack of political correctness is what riles his detractors into a "fairness doctrine" frenzy. If the conservaties had actually followed Limbaugh's logic and advice over the last 3 years then the Obama Socialist machine would not be in power today.

  2. Is he a dope head? Is that why he can not be politically correct?

  3. At least now we know where you get this stuff!

If Rush Limbaugh actually loved this country more than the money he makes off it, he would have realized that the reason he has to live like a hermit and have massive security and a 'compound' is not because he is so "correct" but because he is so hate-filled, angry, sarcastic, insulting and deceitful. No Political Correctness involved whatsoever. PT Barnum was right; Thankfully this clown does not fool enough of the people all of the time!!

  4. I used to listen to Rush regularly, but not so much over the past few years. He does quite often make very good points and has good analysis of current events that you don't get elsewhere, but he also has been wrong on many ocassions and is too stubborn to ever admit it, which is his primary fault. I don't care for his style that much, and he comes off as brash, arrogant, and ego-maniacal too often, which is why I can't tolerate listening to him anymore. Plus, he also dropped a lot of the humor and satirical music pardoies from his show, which is why it was entertaining to listen to. Now, it's a whole lot more negative than I like, though his ire is almost as often aimed at Republicans as it is to Democrats, which I give him credit for.

  5. I agree John about Rush giving the Republicans heck for the last several years. The conservative movement basically died 3 years ago. My party deserved to lose the presidential election. Rush has consistently criticized the Republicans for abandoning conservative values and he was correct in doing so. The republicans became almost the spenders the democrats are known to be. Over the last several years I've seen very little difference between the two parties. Rush warned about that happening long ago but no one in our party took heed. The liberals are in power now. We will see if they have the answers to all the world's woes. I hope Obama is successful but i feel better knowing Rush and others are there in the media to point out the faults of both parties without being bound by political correctness. Rush will be around for a very, very long time and I am glad for it.

  6. Why are you guyss constantly talking about Rush Limbaugh. He's a journalist, not a Congressman. You act like the guy is president or something.

  7. Oh and Sandi, I see alot of liberals throwing that P.T. Barnum quote around lately. I truly hope that 4 years from now the same quote doesn't bounce back on ya....;0).

LOL...I thought you had to be politically correct before you could even qualify as a dope head.

    Comment by Henry — January 31, 2009 @ 5:03 pm

Now that's a good thought Henry. Rush would likely make a good president, but I don't think he'd accept the pay cut.

  10. Jim...

I think you hit the nail on the head. Rush is more interested in lining his own pocket with his useless rhetoric than he is about helping anyone get back to work.

He really is nothing more than a self indulgent prostitute.

  11. Yeah, do me a favor PLEASE, Rush for President! Go boys go!! Right on, you got a winner there. He knows it all, he has all the answers, OMG, what were we thinking, forget Sarah Palin, draft Rush now.

I can't believe we have this terrible Recession and you guys are fixating on a radio guy. When are Obama and Congress going to help the American people instead of talking about some journalist on the radio?

    Comment by Henry — January 31, 2009 @ 9:22 pm

  14. "I can't believe we have this terrible Recession and you guys are fixating on a radio guy. When are Obama and Congress going to help the American people" Just as soon as your Republican heroes in Congress start working with them and stop holding America hostage to get what they want!

P.S. The only one fixated on Rush is himself. He cannot stand to be out of the limelight so he gets outrageous enough to gain it back, and I enjoy every second of it. Truly, I cannot thank him enough!

I think that Barney Frank better fits the bill. Just check out his basement.

  16. Henry,

It's good to see that you finally have confidence in Obama and the Democrats, but get serious man, it will take quite some time to reverse eight years of the failed policies of the Bush/Cheney regime. Hang in there, don't lose hope, change is coming.

By the way, I saw a magazine in the check out line at the grocery store the other day claiming to have new information about Obama's birth certificate. I suppose if we can call Rush a journalist, then we can call the Enquirer a legitimate news source.

  19. I don't see how Miller's argument can balance offering credit to the financially challenged while also protecting the lender. Credit scores are there for a reason: to help lenders avoid loss. Maybe Miller's organization can solicit donations which are then used to lend to those he feels are being short-changed?

Rush often makes good points. If the angry left wants him to get less attention, then maybe they should ignore him rather than show their embarrassing disdain for people who disagree with them.

    Comment by Jim — February 1, 2009 @ 10:52 am

  20. Jim, I do not for one moment want Rush Limbaugh to get LESS attention. I think sunlight is the best disinfectant. I wish he had a TV Show again. I wish someone reported on ALL of his brilliant analysis, insight and 'his patriotic' vigor, everyday. I cannot bear to listen, but the whole world really does need to know what he is telling those ditto heads of his, so I appreciate any coverage he gets. Not all news is good and not all attention is positive, just ask the President Obama haters fan club.
