"Ginny Weisz, a political newcomer who teaches nursing at Radford University, has launched a last-minute bid for the House of Delegates.

The Roanoke County Democrat will challenge House Majority Leader Morgan Griffith, R-Salem, in the 8th District, which includes Salem and part of Roanoke County.

"We believe it’s time for a change," said Weisz, who has worked on Democratic campaigns at the local and national levels. "The status quo is not being accepted as it used to be."

For many of us, partisanship is practically in the DNA. Realizing the definition of partisan is "one exhibiting blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance" I can see where you are coming from. But, if you hold beliefs that are part of a political ideology, you do not check those at the door in any circumstance. It is the anti-government, issues people or as I like to call them 'schizophrenics' who have one issue and want on a council or who have one agenda and want on a council that scare me FAR MORE than any partisan who in most cases (granted, not all) is merely someone willing to identify and stand with a political ideology. The crime is not partisanship alone, it is bad governance and that is more rightly labeled belligerence.
