SOL testing has become a virtual joke. Currently, 'old' tests are posted on the 'net,' for instance. Just how many ways might certain questions, especially in social studies and history, or even reading concepts be asked? (supply/demand questions, historical happenings, concepts, etc.) There are YEARS of tests of tests posted; they are USED for 'teaching to the test'....just memorize as much of the old tests as one can; it HELPS (a form of virtual cheating EVERYONE)
I have also heard about SOL non-readers' teachers/assistants passing-on the information. The only way SOL or similar testing is to NEVER post the old tests, and for everyone to take the tests at the same time of the year; even the days and subjects should mesh. Too much information is being leaked.
