Editorial: Election hiccups in Montgomery County
Minor election problems add up
Montgomery County election officials had several problems this year that demand further investigation.
Montgomery County residents might ask just what the heck is going on at the elections office. Voter Registrar Randy Wertz and his team faced a string of niggling problems this year. None is individually damning, but together they warrant a closer look.

Only in Montgomery County, it seems.
Several years ago, a voting machine was 'lost' and/or left unlocked/unchecked, overnight.
It is a rather simple process to properly count and report the votes, especially with electronic machines. However, I feel that paper receipts for voters and/or ballots should be used.
Not to condemn anyone, but enough is enough.
Montgomery County has a history of government-related efficiency, expenditure and disclosure problems.
The building of the current courthouse became a fiasco. Foundation problems still plaque the site; bricks fell from the exterior walls not so long ago.
Cost and time overruns for town projects within the county and county projects are rampant, historically.
Someone needs to take a swim at the Christiansburg Aquatics Center.
