Battery store coming to West Main Street later this year
Salem is getting a battery store later this year. Batteries as in, well, all kinds of batteries -- "from laptops to cameras to boats to hearing aids," according to a press release from the company. The Interstate All Battery Center is scheduled to open at 3132 West Main Street in Salem "later this year."
Here's the full release from the company:
Have you ever gone to your local wireless store only to find out your battery is discontinued? Look no further, America’s # 1 battery center, Interstate All Battery Center (IABC) will be coming to Roanoke Valley, later this year. IABC promises to meet all customers’ battery needs even if they have to find it or build it.
Recently, Larry Flores signed an agreement with Interstate All Battery Center (IABC) to open a location at 3132 West Main Street [in Salem]. The store will offer more than 13,000 types of power solutions for everything from laptops to cameras to boats to hearing aids.
This year IABC has seen record franchisee signings and continues to experience increased sales and franchisee satisfaction.
“Our franchisees are finding that we offer the right product, extreme service and a great concept to succeed in the world of retail,” said IABC Director of Franchise Development Justin Darland. “The public is proving its loyalty to the concept with a 98 percent customer service retention rate for current Interstate All Battery Centers.”
Interstate Batteries, the billion dollar company that earned its reputation with automotive batteries, honed the Interstate All Battery Center concept with 14 company-owned stores before offering the concept to franchisees in 2000. IABC is the first nationally established brand to enter the fragmented battery market. IABC’s proven ingredients to success position the company to lead the retail battery category, which analysts project will reach $73 billion globally by 2010.

Great article however, one correction:

This is actually not true. Batteries Plus is #1 with over 340 stores, Interstate nearly has 100.

They meant #1 at advertising. Batteries Plus sadly hasn't had any Nascar teams yet. So if you like advertising a lot, it seems like Interstate is a... no-brainer.
You would only want to go with Batteries Plus if you needed a location near you or a battery in stock for the best price.

What is the big deal on this location? They've been open for years - I believe they sell Interstate car batteries. I'm not getting the big deal on it opening later this year - they're already open. Or at least they were the last time I drove by. I'm wondering with the other posts if this was never meant for anyone to read that actually lives in the area.

The location that is there now is the distribution warehouse for the car batteries. The Interstate All Battery store is being built on the same lot. While the actual retail store will be open later this year, you can still purchase every battery for every need at our 3132 W. Main St. location. We also offer custom assembly to rebuild hard to find batteries or expensive power tool batteries. Give us a call at 380-4866 if you have any questions.

Who writes this stuff? Do they use the same speech writers as Obama?

I think what they mean is that the Interstate name is more well known through the country than Batteries Plus.
