City of Salem to again host Sandlot Super Bowl Championship Games
The Jim Carroll Regional Youth Sports Committee has announced that the
26th Annual Sandlot Super Bowl will take place in early November in Salem.
This year over 1,700 youth ages 6‐14 are participating on football teams
and cheerleading squads throughout the Roanoke Valley, and all are competing
for the opportunity to become Super Bowl champions.
The championship games once again will be held at Salem Stadium on Saturday, November 1 and Sunday, November 2, 2008. Teams from the City of Salem, Botetourt County, Roanoke County, Roanoke City, Franklin County, Bedford County, City of Bedford and Craig County will compete in this year’s Super Bowl games.
There will be a $2.00 daily admission ticket which will be good for all games played that day.
Children ages 5 and under will be admitted free of charge. In addition to the championship games, the Bob “Guts” McLelland Coaches Achievement Awards and the John A. Kelley Team Sportsmanship Awards will be given out at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 1.
Please call your local Rec. department for dates and times of all preliminary games leading up to Super Bowl weekend.

11:30 a.m. – Little Division
1:00 p.m. – Junior Division
Saturday, November 1, Division III (Comprised of City of Salem and Bedford,
Craig and Bedford County and Glenvar):
2:30 p.m. – Pee Wee Division
4:00 p.m. – Little Division
5:30 p.m. – Junior Division
Sunday, November 2, Division I (City of Roanoke only):
1:00 p.m. – Pee Wee Division
2:30 p.m. – Little Division
4:00 p.m. – Junior Division
5:30 p.m. – Senior Division
