Letter from Glenvar High student Taylor Powell in China
Here is a letter from Taylor Powell (that's him on the bottom right,) a Glenvar student who is visiting China for the semester. Here's the link to the previous story.
"Hi everybody! I have been in China for almost a month now and I am still getting used to it. Just like being back home though, life has its challenges here. I have had to learn to cook and care for myself. Luckily, the cafeteria and the supermarket are within walking distance. The supermarket is about a mile away but that's the farthest that I have to walk. The only problem is that I can't read any of the labels there. I'm trying though. The teachers at the school are all very nice to me. They are helping me to learn how to teach and how to treat the kids. I am learning fairly quickly, although not as fast as I would like. In October, I was just a teaching assistant. Starting this month, I will take over the bulk of the teaching for four of the classes. I have also been helping plan out the lessons. So I am doing very well here. I am still struggling to learn the langauge but I think I can do it. I always love to hear from everyone back home so feel free to send me emails. Regular mail gets here to slow. If you have any questions about what I am doing or just want to talk to me my email is ospreyfan@rocketmail.com "
