Webcast previews Salem-Pulaski playoff game

The good news for Salem: All season long, sportswriter Aaron McFarling has been picking Pulaski to win it all. But after seeing Salem come oh so close in their regular season game a few weeks ago, he's starten to soften on the prospects of Friday's in the play-offs.

The bad news for Salem: He's still picking Pulaski.

But more good news for Salem: Aaron's sidekick on our weekly high school sports webcast, Robert Anderson, outlines a way that Salem could very well win. (Wait a minute, maybe Aaron's the sidekick. Hmm.) Robert says Salem needs to run the ball -- a lot -- and run it sideline-to-sideline to wear out Pulaski's defense.

So what do you think? Check out what Robert and Aaron have to say on this week's Varsity Cast, and leave your comments below.

Bonus: They also pay tribute to Salem's volleyball team, which advanced to the state quarterfinals.

We have two photo galleries from last week's Salem-Bassett game -- one from Marcus Yam of The Roanoke Times, and then one with 181 fan photos from Laura Tucker of Salem.

We also have a photo gallery from Salem's volleyball team in the playoffs.

And we'll be taking more photos this Friday at the Salem-Pulaski game, and posting those here early Saturday, so check back for more.
